8th Graders Learn about High Tech, High Touch Careers

Tustin, CA - Dozens of 8th graders from around Orange County visited the ATEP campus to learn about high tech careers and learned that many of them are high touch too. The students asked questions of the faculty from Irvine Valley College and surrounding high tech industries, such as, "What was your first job? What school subjects are important to study now for these careers? What industries use this technology?"

Students saw demonstrations of software engineering used in video gaming, lasers, optics, design model making and prototyping. They listened, touched and watched stuff get cut, beamed, reflected and modeled.

Check out the photo album on our facebook page.

Our favorite? The kid showing off through an optics lens!
