Important Enrollment Fee Information for Fall 2009

The California State Legislature, which determines California Community College enrollment fees, increased the enrollment fee from the current rate of $20 per unit to $26 per unit, effective for the fall semester 2009.

Here are answers to some frequently asked questions:

I have already paid my fees for Fall 2009. Will I be charged for additional fees?
Because the enrollment increase became effective Fall 2009, we are required by state law to bill you for the difference.

I have not yet paid my fees for Fall 2009. Should I pay the old enrollment fee or the new one?
To avoid being dropped from classes, you must pay your current fees reflected on your MySite account on time. The enrollment fee increase will be charged to student accounts in the near future, and students will be notified via email about their outstanding balance. In general, if you register online, your payment is due within five business days. If you register in person, your payment is due the same day you register.

If I qualify for a Board of Governors fee waiver (BOGW), will the waiver cover the fee increase?
Yes. Students who have previously applied for financial aid and qualified for a Board of Governors Fee Waiver will be fully covered, and no further action on their part is required.

How do I find out if I am eligible for the BOGW?
Saddleback College and Irvine Valley College prefer to use the FAFSA to determine eligibility for the BOGW. We also use the BOGW application. We prefer the FAFSA because more students qualify for the fee waiver using the federal eligibility index number than would qualify if we were to use the more restrictive guidelines on the shorter state BOGW application.

Is financial aid available?
Depending on your college of record, go to either the Saddleback College Financial Aid web page or the Irvine Valley College Financial Aid web page for helpful links and information. Students who have not yet applied for financial aid may still find that assistance is available to pay for fees, books, and other expenses.

If you have any other questions regarding the fee increase, please call the Saddleback College Student Payment Office at (949) 582-4870 or email the Irvine Valley College Bursar's Office at ivcbursars@ivc.edu.
